A battery energy storage system is made up of multiple components. For large sites in particular, it can be challenging to grasp how exactly everything fits together. We've now introduced the BESS Hierarchy Diagram to provide clarity and actionable insights. In just one view, you can:
Understand how your BESS fits together
See immediately if any action is required
Understand where exactly in your system action is required.
Simply click on "hierarchy diagram" in the navigation to view your site hierarchy.
Toggle between Analytics Mode and Live Mode
Analytics mode
Analytics mode, shown in the image above, gives you an overview of the alerts that are occurring in your system. By clicking on the alert, you can dig deeper to explore and resolve the issue.
Live mode
The live mode is intended to give you a close to real-time monitoring ability. It shows State of Charge and average temperature, as well as running state (idle, discharging or charging) and active power for individual modules. Please note that the delay depends on your data connection - if using an API connection, this data can be shown in real-time.
Benefits for different stakeholders
The diagram provides a useful overview of your site, and is beneficial for multiple stakeholders involved in BESS management and operations:
Asset managers: Use the diagram as a basis to communicate with performance engineers and operations teams.
Performance Engineers: Use the diagram as a starting point for identifying issues, understanding how your system is running, and developing strategies for performance improvements.
Operations Managers: point O&M teams to the exact location of problems during on-site visits.
How it works
You can easily expand the diagram to view sub-components. Simply click on the arrow under "Components" to expand the diagram. Click again to collapse.
To see what alerts are coming up, hover over them. You'll then have the option to go directly to System Monitoring to investigate them in more detail. (In the "live mode", links are provided to explore further in the Data Explorer.
